Fantasy RPG FAQ

Can players play any of the creatures listed in the book as Player Characters?

Can you play them? Yes, technically you can. Should you play them? Probably not. The five main races have been play tested and are balanced with each other.

However, should you convince your GM to allow you to play one of those creatures you should keep a few things in mind.

  • The Creatures would have no Apprenticeship nor Occupations (with limited exceptions)
  • Some of these creatures are mindless and cannot be functionally played in an RPG setting
  • They can seriously imbalance game play and hinder character interaction
  • These creatures would have little access to many of the skills
  • These creatures have no acceptance in cities, villages nor towns and would likely be hunted and killed on site

If you must play one and you have successfully bribed your GM, the GM should consider imposing a CP cost appropriate to the imbalance of the creature chosen to be played.

GMs, if you are going to allow this, at least accept some form of a bribe (one meal is not worth it, make it several and not just pizza). When running the game you  must keep in mind, most people will flee from the creature and some will try to kill it. Very few will accept the creature character for what it is.

Again, this is not recomended!

Why are the Northern Woods in the South?

Because apparently when we were in our twenties, we didn't know north from south. If we had a better reason, I do know anymore. It has been fixed. They are now the Southern Woods.

Game System FAQ

Can I use 1D20 instead of 2D10?

The short answer is no. This game system is designed around a bell curve. 2D10 (two ten sided dice) allow for this bell curve. 1D20 is linear and would mess up the probabilities.
